Behind the Curve: Green Lantern

Hello and welcome to Behind the Curve I'm your blogger Chris Bowser. I am married, I have a young daughter, I have a job where I work a lot of hours. I have priorities that make it to where I am a little behind the curve on current movies that I am interested in. In the past I would have gone to see a movie like this in the theater and I would have been pissed that I wasted 10 bucks (15 if in 3D) on it.

A quick summary: Hal Jordan is a test pilot who feels no fear (except he feels fear in the first 20 minutes and ruins a new plane in the process)! He is chosen by an intergalactic police force called the Green Lanterns to police the sector the Earth resides in. He is the first human to be chosen, of course this is a huge honor. After 15 minutes of training by Drill Instructor Kilawog he is expected to fight the best Green Lantern, the honorable Sinsetro (because that name inspires confidence). When he is bested he decides to give it up, but  when the fear monster Paralax threatens earth will Hal rise to the occasion? Of course he will.

What I liked about this movie: Well, there was a few cool effects, the green energy CGI was cool and I liked the fact that whenever Hal went into his Green Lantern persona his eyes turned pure white. um.... that's about it.

What I hated about this movie: The plot.... well what plot? It was rushed to such an extent that I never got to get a feel for anyone or anything, I think if I didn't know the little I did about Green Lantern comics I would be so lost that it would just make this completely unwatchable. The effects from the ring were bad, the characters all looked stupid, space looked fake and Paralax looks like a weird shit octopus. Ryan Reynolds..... I swear he needs to stop getting work, ladies (and gay dudes) I know he's hot, has sweet abs but can we agree that he hasn't been in a good movie since Van Wilder?

All and all 3 Green Rings of Power out of 10 and that's being generous.
